SAT Weekend registration
How to Register for the SAT
Sign in to your own College Board account, choose an available test date and center, supply your information and photo, then pay or apply an eligible fee waiver. SAT registration happens through College Board, not Dolphin.
How do you sign up, step by step?
- Open My SAT and sign in or create a free student account. The student must register; this is not a parent-account task.
- Enter your personal and school information. Check your name against the acceptable physical ID you will bring, not a nickname. Homeschooled students use school code 970000.
- Select a date and a center with an available seat. Consider travel as well as distance. Search more than one center if your first choice is full.
- Upload your registration photo, review the details, and complete payment or enter your fee-waiver code. Keep the confirmation and check the registration in My SAT.
College Board estimates about 30 minutes and lets you return to an unfinished registration. Starting the form is not the same as completing registration. Official registration instructions.
What are the remaining 2026-27 SAT registration deadlines?
| Test date | Regular registration | Late registration |
|---|---|---|
| November 7, 2026 | October 23, 2026 | October 27, 2026 |
| December 5, 2026 | November 20, 2026 | November 24, 2026 |
| March 6, 2027 | February 19, 2027 | February 23, 2027 |
| May 1, 2027 | April 16, 2027 | April 20, 2027 |
| June 5, 2027 | May 21, 2027 | May 25, 2027 |
These dates apply to U.S. and international SAT Weekend testing. Earlier 2026 dates have passed and are not included. Seats are not guaranteed; check the live College Board calendar before paying. The late-registration column is also the published deadline for changes and regular cancellation.
Need a College Board loaned device? Register and request it at least 30 days before testing, earlier than the ordinary deadline. School Day registration is handled by schools.
How much does SAT registration cost?
Checked October 9, 2026: the U.S. registration fee is $68. Late registration adds $38. Changing the test center costs $34; changing the test date instead requires cancellation and a new registration. College Board lists its additional-fee schedule through June 2027.
For international testing, the $68 registration fee plus the $43 international fee totals $111 before other applicable charges. Select centers add $24. Check the actual checkout total and any late or center-specific fees.
A cancellation is not a free date transfer: the listed cancellation fee is $34 by the change deadline, or $44 for late cancellation. Read the current refund terms before abandoning an existing seat.
Can you get an SAT fee waiver?
Eligibility covers qualifying low-income 11th- and 12th-grade students in the U.S. or its territories, and qualifying U.S. citizens abroad. Examples include eligibility for the National School Lunch Program or a family income within the published guidelines; check the full criteria rather than assuming eligibility.
Benefits include two free SAT tests and no late-registration fee for those tests. Ask your counselor or request directly from College Board. Start early: College Board asks for direct requests at least 1-2 weeks before your registration deadline. Do not wait until payment is due to begin checking eligibility.
What should you have ready before registering?
- Your student account, school details, an acceptable ID, and a payment method or fee-waiver code.
- A clear, recognizable, head-on photo showing your head and shoulders, with nobody else in the image. College Board accepts JPG, GIF, or PNG. An upload-success message alone does not prove compliance; compare it with the official photo examples.
- A realistic device plan. Check Bluebook device requirements and preparation at least 30 days before testing, leaving time to arrange another device or request a loan.
What happens after you register?
Put the date, preparation sessions, and exam-setup reminder on your calendar. For your own testing device, complete Bluebook setup 1-5 days before the test to get your admission ticket. Approved College Board device borrowers complete setup at the center and must arrive 30 minutes early. Check your ticket and College Board's test-day instructions for your actual arrival requirements.
SAT registration questions
Where do you sign up for the SAT?
Register for SAT Weekend in My SAT with your own College Board student account. Dolphin is a preparation resource, not the registration provider. For SAT School Day, ask your school; schools register students for those administrations.
Can a parent register a student for the SAT?
College Board requires the student to register using their own account. A parent or counselor can help with planning, but should not register on the student's behalf.
Can you register after the regular deadline?
Late registration is available through the listed late deadline, subject to available seats. The additional fee is $38 under the fee schedule checked October 9, 2026. Eligible fee-waiver tests do not incur a late registration fee.
Does paying for registration give you an admission ticket?
Registration and the admission ticket are separate steps. For a device you bring yourself, complete Bluebook exam setup 1-5 days before testing to generate the ticket. If College Board approves a loaned device, follow its arrival instructions to complete setup at the test center.
